Elorea FIRE/리 Candle Review

I’m obsessed with candles. I have a whole two closet shelves of ones I haven’t burned yet, plus others randomly around my apartment. I’m always looking for new and exciting scents, and when I found Elorea, a Korean perfume brand, I had to try them!

Elorea is a portmanteau of “Elements” and “Korea,” and they craft scents inspired by Korea’s rich history. As a Korean-American adoptee, I’m proud to support any Korean-owned brands.

The brand’s core belief is all about balance: between traditional and modern, classic and unconventional, and sustainability and luxury. They produce small-batch, genderless scents available in both perfume and candle form. They also give back to The Korean American Association of Greater New York, Korean American Story, Korean Community Services of Metropolitan New York, and the Korean American Community Foundation.

I originally purchased the perfume Discovery Set, and while I enjoyed the scents, I found that I would prefer them better as a candle than worn as a perfume. If you purchase the Discovery Set, you’ll get a voucher for $30 off a full-sized bottle of perfume.

The candle I chose was Fire, or (“Ri” is the closest romanization) in Korean Hangul. It has a warm scent profile with notes of Jeju lime, bergamot, clove, guaiacwood, oud, camellia, suede, amber, and patchouli. The candle is made with soy and coconut wax and has a 60 hour burn time.

This candle is gorgeous. I love the classy black vessel and Elorea branding. The candle itself has a very unique scent: I love the warmth from the clove, oud, and amber, but the citrus and bergamot add an interesting citrus/floral touch. It smells lovely and fills up my entire living room. I’d describe the intensity as medium: you can notice it but it isn’t overpowering.

If you like candles, Elorea holds up as a great small-batch luxury brand. Their candles burn cleanly and have vegan, cruelty-free scents. If “Fire” doesn’t seem like your style, they also have Water, Earth, and Heaven candles.

Bottom Line: I love my Elorea Fire candle and will add to my collection soon (the Heaven scent is another favorite). I’m happy to support a Korean brand, especially one that gives back to organizations within the community.
